When it is used after a food’s name, it means a rice-bowl dish. For example:

Gyu-don = Beef on rice (as pictured)

Nitamago-don = Nitamago on rice

Donburi = A large bowl

For example, when someone says “I am looking for a donburi” at a store, they usually mean “I am looking for a large or oversized bowl.”
